Michael DeVore (b. 1982) is a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Pepperdine University in 2005 with his BA in art. Feeling that he was still lacking strong skills in painting and drawing he began looking for art schools in Italy where he had once spent a summer studying art through his college. Upon finding the Florence Academy of Art and seeing the work being produced there he instantly felt a connection with this tradition and knew he must go to Italy to learn it. After spending nearly three years in Florence and an additional year at the school’s Swedish campus Michael graduated in 2010. He was honored during this time by having one of his figure drawings added to the school’s permanent collection of student works.
Since graduating Michael married Cecilia Thorell, another artist he met at the Florence Academy. They currently live in Colorado Springs, Colorado and have a daughter, Ella, who was born in 2012.
Michael was featured as an “Artist to Watch” in Southwest Art Magazine and has had his work in various exhibitions with Oil Painters of America, The Artists Guild, The International Guild of Realism, the Greenhouse Gallery Salon, the National Oil and Acrylic Painter’s Society and many others. He is represented by Arts at Denver in Denver, Colorado and Greenberg Fine Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Michael continually strives to improve his work through intensive study ofnature and by studying the work of masters past and present.
